Even more motivated by the support of their enthusiastic public, Portugal showed excellent Volleyball in the third set.

Nuno Pereira, POR Coach “It was a very important match and the team gave the right answer. With the qualification for the semifinals we guaranteed the access to the second round of the European Championships to be held in April. Today the team served well and they also had a good dynamic block/defense. They are to be congratulated! Against France, I want to believe that will be a well played match… and I feel that we have the team to pull out a surprise…”

PB5 : ITA – FRA : 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-20)

The win in the first set of this match between the teams considered as favorites to the direct qualification for the U17 Men European Championships was achieved by Italy that present themselves stronger as team. Under Luca Porro’s lead, Italy continued to show their practically irreprehensible game and won another set. The third set wasn’t very different. Italy led the scoreboard from the 10-pts onwards and unsurprisingly sealed their third victory and secured the lead in Pool B.

Ranieri Truocchio, from Italy, and Nadirian Sakanoko, from France, both with 13-pts were the best scorers of the match.

Luca Porro, ITA captain “I think that we still can’t say that we’re the grand favorites because we won 3-0 against France, a difficult opponent. We have to think that we still didn’t win anything and maintain our focus on our team togetherness, since I think that is our great asset”
