Principles

The Western European Volleyball Zonal Association (WEVZA) operates on a set of core principles and values.

The PRINCIPLES that guide the Association affairs setting on the Statutes are:

  • Promoting Volleyball and Beach Volleyball expansion and popularity.
  • Fostering friendly relations between their sport communities.
  • Enhancing competition opportunities for players, coaches, officials.
  • Developing technical expertise
  • Maintaining political neutrality

Values

The VALUES that provide the ethical compass and operational framework that ensure the organization fulfil the mission are:

  • Fair Play: to participate by an attitude where the joy of the game and human excellence are prioritized over winning at all cost
  • Competency and integrity: to manage and administer its affairs effectively and with highest standards of ethic, strictly abiding our own setting rules and supplementary the CEV and FIVB regulations.
  • Community building: to foster the development of friendly relations and the exchange of experience between the national federations (NFs), as well as their officials, coaches, referees, and players.
  • Safe and healthy practice: to create an environment where the physical and mental well-being of all participants is a primary value, promoted through specific guidelines and procedures during all regulated activities.

In WEVZA competitions players, officials and administrators are expected to:

  • Adhere strictly to both the Rules of the Game and competition regulations in force, and the “unwritten” rules of ethics and sportsmanship.
  • Demonstrate unconditional respect for opponents, teammates, coaches, referees, and spectators, rejecting any inappropriate behaviour, such as using rude language, making derogatory remarks or abusing or harassing others.
  • Prosecute the triumph by honest and just means, rejecting cheating, result’s manipulations, drug abuse or any form of exploitation.
  • Be modest in victory and gracious in defeat: shaking hands with the opposing team and officials after a match and avoiding excessive celebration or making excuses when losing.
  • Accept the decisions of the referee and other officials without protest or argument.

STATEMENT ABOUT HARASSMENT, ABUSE OR ANY ACTION OF NON-ACCIDENTAL VIOLENCE

Overall, WEVZA aims to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in Volleyball and Beach Volleyball activities in a safe, healthy and supportive environment, in line with the broader values of its parent organizations (CEV and FIVB).

 

  1.  All persons participating in any WEVZA event have the right to be protected from non-accidental violence, harassment or abuse, regardless of race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, disability, physical attributes, athletic ability, or other condition.

 

  1. WEVZA advocates for a safe personal environment in all its activities and invites all member federations to contribute actively and committedly to ensuring protective measures and legal actions to prevent and respond to incidents of non-accidental violence, harassment or abuse.

 

  1. Any such behaviour occurs during WEVZA activities will be immediately brought to light, investigated and that responsible will be reported to the authorities of their national federations and to the CEV.
