WEVZA is heir to the tradition of western European countries cooperating to foster volleyball on the area, mainly through the long-standing and traditional Six Nations Tournament which was later renamed the Eight Nations Tournament.
Those countries finally agreed to create a CEV Zonal Association on 26 September 2013, with the approval of the WEVZA first Statutes.
Founding and current members of the Western European Zonal Volleyball Association (WEVZA) are the Volleyball National Federations of: BELGIUM, FRANCE, GERMANY, ITALY, PORTUGAL, SPAIN, SWITZERLAND and THE NETHERLANDS.
The main Aims and Tasks of WEVZA are:
The General Assembly of the affiliated member NFs is the supreme decision-making body of WEVZA and its decisions are binding for all Member Federations and have immediate effect on all matters and activities under the Associations authority. The General Assembly is composed of representatives from the NFs members and will be held every year.
The Executive Committee is the governing body of WEVZA and it is responsible for the overall administration of the Association, as well as of the implementation of the resolutions of the General Assembly. The Executive Committee consists of 3 members: the President and 2 Vice Presidents.
The Secretariat of the Association is the body providing official, administrative and other general services to WEVZA. The NF of the elected President of WEVZA shall perform the duties of the Secretariat of the Association for the duration of the term of office of the President. Currently these duties are being performed by the NF of France.
The General Assembly may create as many Commissions as necessary, which shall be responsible for delivering the stated aims of WEVZA.
