The Zonal Volleyball Association of the Western European countries WEVZA celebrated its General Assembly on Thursday. The meeting took place in Bulgarian city of Sofia and had the election of authorities for the next term as its main point of the agenda. The plenary gathering of the union of federations of Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland decided to reelect Spanish leader Agustin Martin Santos as president of the WEVZA for the next two years.

The General Assembly of the WEVZA unanimously elected the head of the Royal Spanish Volleyball Federation, Agustin Martin Santos as president of the institution for the next term. The Spanish official had previously acted as head of the association since its creation and will continue holding the position for two more years.

During the meeting the positions of Vice-presidents of the institution for the next term were also designated. The head of the Portuguese Volleyball Federation, Vicente Araujo will remain in the position, while the president of the Belgian Volleyball Federation, Willy Bruninx will replace the president of the Dutch Volleyball Federation, Hans Nieukerke. The positions of auditors will rest in the representatives of the national federations of France and Switzerland.

The plenary meeting of the Zonal Volleyball Association of the Western European countries was held in Hotel Marinela in Sofia, in the frame of an intense and historic week for European Volleyball, with the celebration of the CEV General Assembly where the new leaders of European Volleyball will be designated as highlight of the week.
