The 2014 WEVZA Boys Tournament officially started Monday morning with the press conference held at “Casa del Deporte” in Valladolid. The first edition of this tournament will bring together teams from France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Holland, Spain and Portugal, and Sweden, taking the place of Switzerland, in the competition that replaces the traditional 8 Nations Tournament.

Alfredo Blanco, councilor of the City of Valladolid, Agustín Martín Santos, president of the WEVZA and president of RFEVB and Luis Pujades, representing the Sports Service of Castilla y León Govern region attended the meeting with the media.
Alfredo Blanco stated the importance of this tournament for the city as “it promotes the city, and the dynamics of Valladolid at this time of year”. The president of WEVZA, Agustín Martín Santos commented on the importance of this tournament, as “one of the objectives of the zonal association is to promote the young volleyball”. Agustín Martín Santos added that Spain makes a great effort to develop and promote the new generations of players through its grassroot programs.

The President of WEVZA and RFEVB, Agustín Martín Santos, also mentioned the excellence of facilities in Valladolid, “a city that provides much to Spanish Volleyball, and receives much in lodging and tourism promotion”. This tournament is a “great opportunity to be here and enjoy a high level volleyball starring the rising stars of European volleyball”.
